The latest releases of our Lamassu platform for Bitcoin ATMs now include SumSub as an optional third-party ID verification flow for your customers.

SumSub allows you to delegate the process of ID scanning and verification, including liveness checks, to a dedicated, highly-trusted service in the crypto industry. Rather than accept or reject scanned IDs yourself, potentially holding customers up for manual review, users instead can complete a fast verification process on their phones with instant approval, continuing on to the rest of their experience at your machines.

When configured, a SumSub requirement is triggered at a time of your choosing during the transaction flow. Users are prompted to scan a QR code which takes them to a SumSub portal on their phone, where they complete a quick three-step verification flow, providing their ID, performing a liveness check, and confirming their phone number. The whole process takes just a couple minutes, after which they're approved and can get back to transacting at the machine.

Customers only need to perform the process once, subsequently identifying at your machines with their associated phone number or e-mail address. The SumSub feature for operators is optional, and operators can continue using the combination of existing machine-performed ID checks, or use SumSub in conjunction with our other compliance features such as custom info requests and customer photos.

For more information on releases containing SumSub, operators may review our update article on Lamassu Admin v10.0 and reach out to our support team to arrange an upgrade. If other third-party compliance services would be helpful to your operation, we'd love to hear from you.
